Storm damage happens fast. Here is what to do.

Hail, wind, and hurricanes can do a lot to a roof, and the hours after are stressful. Keep everyone safe, then call us. We look at the damage, photograph all of it, and tell you straight what the roof needs.

Do these three things first

None of them involve getting on the roof. Working up there is our job, not yours.

  1. Keep everyone safe

    Stay off the roof, even if it looks fine from the ground. If anyone is in danger, call 911 first. If water is coming in near outlets or light fixtures, keep people and pets out of that room.

  2. Take photos if it is safe

    From the ground and from inside only: the roof from the yard, wet ceilings, water on the floor. Never climb a ladder for a photo. Note the date and time of the storm too.

  3. Call 888-NOW-ROOF

    Tell us what happened and what you can see. You get a straight answer about what should happen next. If water is still coming in, say so first.

The insurance part

How we help with the claim

Storm work with an insurance claim behind it is a specialty at K. Simon, not a sideline. Here is what that means for you.

Our storm teams go over the roof in deep detail. Damage gets photographed, dated, and measured, piece by piece, and tied to where it sits on the roof. Nothing is summarized from the driveway.

From that record we write an itemized estimate for the repair or replacement. Every line points back to documented damage, so you, your insurance company, or a second opinion can check it line by line.

We document the damage and do the work. Whether to file a claim, and what your policy covers, stays between you and your insurance company. We will not predict coverage or promise a claim outcome, and you should be wary of anyone who does.

Problem. Hurricane Milton damaged all 27 facets of this clay tile roof on October 9, 2024. The aerial measurement recorded 69 squares of tile, 407 feet of hips, and 161 feet of valleys.

Result. A Verea Clay S Barrel roof in the Fume mix over Polyglass MTS Plus and TU Plus, with 477 linear feet of mortar-bedded hips and ridges and 515 feet of clay bird stops. The Certificate of Completion was signed April 3, 2026.

Problem. On September 26, 2024, hurricane winds tore into the shingle roof of a single-story waterfront home and the same storm pushed flooding through the entire main level. Every room took water.

Result. TAMKO Titan XT shingles fastened with six nails each, mastic at the eaves, rakes, valleys, and gable ends, and the 224 feet of seamless gutters reinstalled intact rather than replaced. Inside: 568 linear feet of flood cut, 72 sheets of drywall, a rebuilt kitchen, ten new interior doors, new vanities and trim, and prime and paint through the whole home. The roof's Certificate of Completion was signed February 26, 2025.
